Mission Statement

Local heroes is a competition in the music scene for newcomer bands. Local heroes has an ideal and not commercial character.

Local heroes is a platform for all young musicians, music-lovers and everything around promotion of young people in the music area. Local heroes supports and promotes young bands, male and female musicians on the regional and national level in the current participant countries Germany, Austria, Hungary and Italy.

Local heroes wants to bring together musicians and connects them above borders. We are an open platform for the themes which are relevant to young people. Racism and foreclosure are not being accepted by us. Music with inhuman lyrics does not go onstage.

In 2010 the initiation of one Europe-wide competition (local heroes europe) will continue the idea of linking-up young music-makers giving them a possibility to exchange their experience. The local heroes competition applies to young newcomer bands and solo female and male interpreters who are not professionals and have not signed a record contract with major labels and whose average age is not above 27. Local heroes takes place every year under the auspices of Minister for Education of Saxony-Anhalt.

The coordination of the competition is arranged by local heroes bureaus in Magdeburg and Salzwedel. Locally the competitions are arranged by respective organisers independently and on their own authority.

The local heroes bureau is a constant contact for all concerns of competitions. The procedure of the competition is different in each region and country. All regional organisers bear a name of „local heroes“ in the title of event. Associated competitions use an addition „goes local heroes“.
